Still one of my favorite verses from a rock song:

If it’s any consolation, I don’t begin to understand them.
Oh god yes. When they were tight, they were great. And when they were smashed out of their heads, barely able to play… they were still great. (Remembering them at Irving Plaza, New York, ‘85 or ‘86.)
